Advantages
- Lowest cost of all elastomers
- Ease of application
- Ease of cure
- Ease of repair
- Unaffected by cold weather or rapid temperature changes
- Good general chemical resistance within temperature limitation
- Excellent to superior abrasion and tear resistance
Disadvantages
- Not oil resistant
- Not flame resistant
- Poor resistance to ozone, sunlight, and weather
- Temperature limited to 120° F (special stocks--150° F)
Types:
- Pure gum
- FDA compliant
- Activated--for quick atmospheric cure and repairs
- Special--for extreme abrasion
Uses:
- Chemical storage tanks
- Trailer tanks
- Tumblers, vibrators, cyclones, fans, pumps, pipe and fittings, etc.
Do not use:
- In tumblers or vibrators where oily parts may be processed.
- For plating tanks
- For dilute hydrochloric acid (less than commercial 37%)
